As a result of a pipe break to the sprinkler system within the freezer unit, 7,858,535 lbs of frozen French fries were exposed to water.  Our immediate solution was to remove the French fries to a 3rd party storage facility to preserve the integrity of the boxes.  However, the insured still had a business to run and by removing the salvage during working hours would have shut down their production.  Instead, Nardone & Company, Inc. worked from 6pm to 6am each day until the French fries were placed in three separate storage locations.  Utilizing the insured’s inventory, we verified the French fries by product code as they were being pulled from the freezer.  To assist with the removal, Nardone & Company, Inc. also operated forklifts in an effort to increase efficiency.  As a result of our efforts, 5,705,833 lbs of French fries were retained by the insured at no loss.  An additional 19,903.50 lbs were deemed a total loss and Nardone & Company, Inc. sold 2,132,798 lbs of water damaged French fries at $.18 per lb or $383,723.64.
